I do not copy nature, but convey my own interpretation in my works, which often come from memories or feelings. I co-create with water. For me, water is a metaphor for life. My work is magic that is born in water and with it. The vibrant colors and sense of movement in my works are reminiscent of Matisse,Klimt paintings, while the harmonious compositions are reminiscent of Japanese prints.
My technique originates from the old historical Japanese art of Suminagashi, transferring an image from the surface of water onto paper. Transferring this ancient technique to our modern world and being inspired by the art and aesthetics of the Flemish masters, I create large canvases with images of blooming gardens - a visual metaphor, where every flower, every fruit contains meaning and has its own symbolism. The fluidity of water, its complicity in the creation of the art, is similar to the fluidity of our life today, information flows, while drops and dots resemble the pixels of our digital life.. It is always a meditative process: observation, knowledge and self-discovery, sensations. It is said that water remembers everything that is said around it. Therefore, when I create, I try to pass on to others my view of the world, life: the blessings that surround us, joy, support, aspiration and hope for a brighter future. The bright and pure colors help me visualize that view. Thus, with help from ancient technique I present the modern world with hope for a brighter future.
